Mountain Piecemakers Quilt Guild is based in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. We meet in Burnsville,NC a small town centrally located in the area of Madison, Yancey, and Mitchell counties near the Tennessee border.
Our organization is open to all persons who have an interest in quilting. The guild was formed in 1997 by a small group of quilters who had a desire to promote and preserve the art of quilting and over time, it has grown to include quilters who possess all levels of expertise.
To fulfill its goals and objectives, the guild engages in many activities such as providing members with programs and classes teaching quilting techniques and design; conducting workshops to provide in-depth instruction; and holding regular quilting bees that provide opportunity to practice and learn these techniques.
Mountain Piecemakers Quilt Guild holds a monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at the Burnsville Town Center. On the fourth Tuesday of each month, the guild holds an all-day quilting bee at the Town Center.
The guild holds an annual quilt show where members exhibit quilts they have sewn during the previous year. This activity provides an opportunity for members to publicize accomplishments related to the guild’s mission, while extending an invitation to potential new members.
The guild creates Hero Quilts, providing quilts to veterans and service men and women within our community.
In addition, the guild supports Project Linus by creating and sewing quilts for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.
